Description
Chakrasamvara is a principal deity of Vajrayana (tantric) Buddhism, and mandalas like this one serve as a map of his celestial palace for meditation. This example was painted in distemper on cloth in the Himalayan region around 1100, making it roughly 900 years old. Strict symmetry, with squares inside circles inside squares, is part of the point: every ring and gate carries meaning for the practitioner.
Custom printed and made to order. Please note: due to variations in the production process, blankets may arrive up to 3 inches shorter than the listed size.
