Description

Ghosts of the Taira at Daimotsu Bay is a triptych woodblock print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797–1861), made in the mid-19th century. It draws on the Tale of the Heike tradition, in which the vengeful spirits of the defeated Taira clan rise from the sea to attack the ship of the Minamoto commander Yoshitsune. Kuniyoshi was one of the great designers of Edo-period warrior and supernatural prints. This women's cotton tee carries the print across the back.
