Description
The Dragon Devouring the Companions of Cadmus is an engraving by Hendrick Goltzius dated 1588, after a design by Cornelis van Haarlem. It illustrates a scene from Ovid's Metamorphoses, in which the Phoenician prince Cadmus loses his companions to a dragon at a spring and then kills it, in the story of the founding of Thebes.
