Description
Hieronymus Bosch painted The Garden of Earthly Delights between about 1503 and 1515, a triptych that moves from Eden on the left, through a crowded garden of earthly pleasures, to a nightmarish hell on the right. When the panels are closed, the exterior shows the earth on the third day of Creation. It has hung in the Museo del Prado in Madrid for generations and remains one of the most debated paintings in Western art.
