Description
John William Waterhouse painted Miranda, from Shakespeare's The Tempest, twice in 1916, the last year of his life. It was a return to a Shakespeare heroine he had first painted in 1875. Both late versions show the moment of the shipwreck that Prospero conjures at the start of the play.
