Leonardo da Vinci 'The Last Supper' Poster
Free shipping on orders over $65
Description
Leonardo da Vinci painted The Last Supper around 1495 to 1498 on the refectory wall of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, for Duke Ludovico Sforza. He experimented with tempera on dry plaster instead of true fresco, so the paint began to flake within his lifetime, and the work has been restored many times, most recently from 1978 to 1999. The wall survived Allied bombing of the convent in 1943 because it had been sandbagged.
