Description
Oedipus and the Sphinx is a painting by Gustave Moreau (1826–1898), dated 1864. It was shown at the Paris Salon that year, was Moreau's first major success, and helped establish him as a leading Symbolist painter. The subject comes from Greek myth, in which Oedipus answers the Sphinx's riddle at the gates of Thebes. The Metropolitan Museum of Art received the painting as a bequest in 1920. This unisex hoodie carries the painting on the front.
