Self-Portrait with a Straw Hat Shirt

Vincent van Gogh painted this self-portrait in Paris in 1887, during the two years he lived with his brother Theo and absorbed the bright color and short brushstrokes of the Impressionists and Neo-Impressionists. He painted dozens of self-portraits in this period, partly because he could not afford models. This one is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
