Description
Paul Cézanne painted The Card Players in several versions between about 1890 and 1895, posing farm workers from the Aix-en-Provence area as his models. He made the series after long study of each figure, and it is among the best-known works of his late career. This version, with five figures, is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
