Description
The Vision of Hell is a wood engraving by Gustave Doré (1832–1883) for an illustrated edition of Dante's Divine Comedy. Doré's illustrations for the poem, published in Paris in the 1860s, were reproduced across Europe and America and did much to fix the popular image of Dante's hell. This impression is from an 1866 edition in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This women's cotton tee carries the print across the front.
