Free shipping on orders over $65
Description
In Firdausi's epic Shahnama (Book of Kings), the exiled Iranian prince Siyavush marries Farangis, daughter of the king of Turan, in a match meant to bring peace. It ends in tragedy when Siyavush is murdered, setting off generations of revenge. This page comes from the lavish copy of the Shahnama made for Shah Tahmasp in Safavid Iran around 1525-30, one of the most celebrated illustrated manuscripts ever produced.
