Hiroshige 'Sakasai Ferry' Mug
Free shipping on orders over $65
Description
Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858) made this woodblock print in 1857 for his series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, one of the last great works of his career. He died the following year. The print shows the ferry crossing at Sakasai on the outskirts of Edo, with egrets feeding along the water's edge. Hiroshige's landscapes, with their bold color and cropped, close-up compositions, strongly influenced Western artists such as Van Gogh and Monet.
