John Singer Sargent 'Madame X' Poster

Description
John Singer Sargent painted Madame X in 1883 to 1884, a portrait of the Parisian society beauty Virginie Amélie Avegno Gautreau. It caused a scandal at the 1884 Paris Salon because of its plunging neckline and a fallen shoulder strap, which Sargent later repainted upright. He sold it to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1916 and asked that the sitter's name not be used, which is how it became known as Madame X.
Custom printed and made to order.
