Description
Kabuki Actor Arashi Rikan II as Iemon Confronted by an Image of His Murdered Wife, Oiwa, on a Broken Lantern is a color woodblock print by Shunbaisai Hokuei, an Osaka printmaker known for his kabuki actor portraits. It records a stage performance of Tsuruya Nanboku IV's 1825 play Tokaido Yotsuya Kaidan, the most famous ghost story in Japanese theater, in which the vengeful spirit of Oiwa haunts her husband Iemon. This women's cotton tee carries the print across the back.
