Melencolia I is an engraving by Albrecht Dürer (1471–1528), dated 1514. It is one of his three celebrated master engravings and among the most analyzed prints in Western art, often read as an allegory of melancholy and the frustrations of creative genius. Dürer packed it with symbols drawn from geometry, alchemy and astrology, including a magic square that has been studied for centuries. This women's cotton tee carries the print across the back.
