Description
The Dragon Devouring the Companions of Cadmus is an engraving by Hendrick Goltzius dated 1588, after a design by Cornelis van Haarlem. It illustrates a scene from Ovid's Metamorphoses, in which the Phoenician prince Cadmus loses his companions to a dragon at a spring and then kills it, in the story of the founding of Thebes. Goltzius was among the most celebrated engravers of his day, known for virtuoso, swelling lines. This women's cotton tee carries the print across the front.
