Description
Winslow Homer painted The Gulf Stream in 1899 and reworked it before the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York bought it in 1906. It shows a man adrift on a damaged boat in shark-infested waters off the Caribbean, with a waterspout and a distant ship on the horizon. Homer had traveled to the Bahamas and Florida to paint the sea, and he left the man's fate open to the viewer's reading. This unisex cotton tee carries the print on the chest.
